We are excited to formally announce the upcoming round table discussion accompanying the exhibition In Your Touch, I Remain on Saturday, 18 September 2021. This live event will bring together all participating artists to reflect on their works and the exhibition theme of residue in relation to cultural heritages, intergenerational agency, and resilient absence. The introductory conversation revolves around the experiences of both artists and their parents of art and their art practices.
As these residual traces are not just abstract concepts but are also felt deeply personally – during this round table conversation, both artists as their parent(s) are invited to reflect on how familial histories surpass generations through their continued impact and presence. But also how the family relates to the role and position of the artist within the present. What are the aspirations, uncertainties, and hopes they share for one another?
