I Was At The Frame Shop is onderdeel van het Apprentice/Master Programma van Kunstpodium T. Dit programma ondersteunt en motiveert recent afgestudeerde kunstenaars bij de start van hun carrière. Ze worden daarbij begeleidt door een professioneel team. Kunstpodium T programmeert dit project hoofdzakelijk vanuit Tilburg, maar werkt voor dit project ook samen op locatie met andere kunstpodia, zoals met Omstand. In I Was At The Frame Shop is Jonas Ohlsson de master. De jonge talenten zijn Natsumi Sakai, Nikki Vroom, Onno Meeuwsen en Isa Bongers. Iedere deelnemer levert een bijdrage aan deze tentoonstelling vanuit de eigen artistieke praktijk, dat in deze groepstentoonstelling wordt getoond.
De groepstentoonstelling I Was At The Frame Shop presenteert een verkenning van verschillende vormen van menselijke representatie. Objecten als mensen, beelden als mensen, sculpturen als mensen, performers als mensen. Als acteurs in een wereld die zichzelf voortdurend probeert te definiëren en herdefiniëren – hoe observeren, construeren en verbeelden we onze rollen als mensen en kunstenaars? Hoe kunnen we speels blijven in omgevingen waar menselijke voorstellingen en visuele interacties het meest gericht zijn op winst en productiviteit?
Naast het onderzoeken van dit onderwerp is deze groepstentoonstelling een gezamenlijke poging om nieuwe manieren te creëren en collectief om te gaan met de visuele beeldcultuur van de menselijke representatie.

I Was At The Frame Shop is part of the Apprentice/Master Programme of Kunstpodium T. This programme supports and motivates recently graduated artists at the start of their careers. They are guided by a professional team. Kunstpodium T programmes this project mainly from Tilburg, but also works on location with other art venues, such as Omstand. Jonas Ohlsson is the master in I Was At The Frame Shop. The young talents are Natsumi Sakai, Nikki Vroom, Onno Meeuwsen and Isa Bongers. Besides researching the topic of representation through their own artistic practices, the participants present a collaborative attempt to create new ways of dealing with visual culture in human representation together.
The group exhibition I Was At The Frame Shop presents an exploration of different forms of human representation. Objects as human, images as human, sculptures as human, performers as human. Being actors in a world that is trying to define and redefine itself constantly – how do we observe, construct, visualise our roles as humans and artists? How can we remain playful in environments where most of human representations and visual interactions are aimed at profit and productivity?
In addition to exploring this matter, this group exhibition is a joint attempt to create new ways of dealing collectively with the visual image culture of human representation.
